Kolekcja malarstwa Romana Stanisława Janty-Połczyńskiego z Żabiczyna
Abstrakt
The collection of Roman Stanisław Janta-Połczyński from Żabiczyn is an almost unknown collection of paintings brought together by a landowner from the Greater Poland-Pomerania District border. It was begun in the 1880s, when its owner started to work as an MP for the German Parliament. Janta-Połczyński created a valuable collection of paintings by representatives of the Polish painting colony in Munich. Building his collection for the last years of his life, he also included in it pieces by German and Austrian artists, with the Munich School, however, remaining the dominant. The group of family portraits complemented his collection. Following Poland regaining independence, Roman Mieczysław Janta-Połczyński, collector s son, deposited a fragment of the collection at the Wielkopolska Museum in Poznań. The collection, being the expression of the artistic interests of its creator, also manifested his patriotic and prestige motivation. Unfortunately, the period of World War II contributed to the destruction and fragmentation of a large part of the collection.
