Wybrane środowiskowe korelaty adaptacji dzieci do żłobków

Adaptation to a nursery is a difficult period to a child and his family. Understanding the conditions of this process can contribute to better understanding the mechanisms that link family factors with the child functioning and development in a nursery and thus provide support for contemporary families facing the choice of a care form for their child. The aim of the research presented in the article is to show the relationship between selected environmental factors and children’s adaptation to nurseries. Research conducted in Lublin nurseries indicates that the level of parents’ anxiety during the first days of their child’s stay in a nursery correlates positively with negative behaviors and emotions observed in children during adaptation, and negatively with positive behaviors during separation from children with parents. Moreover, children entrusted to a person other than a parent before being admitted to a nursery exhibit less negative behaviors during adaptation. Additionally, the research showed that all environmental factors significantly correlated with the girls adaptation, while in boys group, only the parental anxiety was significant for adaptation. All significant covariations showed weak relationships between the variables.
