Akathist and Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the cult of Mary

Abstract

The article broaches the relationship of the Byzantine liturgical hymn called the Akathist with Litany of Loreto. Both prayers are addressed to the Virgin Mary, the two also combine three topics: dogmatic, historiosophic, and eschatological. Theological thought links them closely together in a poetic form of communication. Therefore, they are fundamental to the development of Marian spirituality.
