The paper is an attempt to show the significance of considering graphical stylistic devices for an accurate analysis of literary texts. To this end the author analyzes the punctuation, capitalization and other typographic features of the novella “Frühling” [Spring] by Thomas Lehr basing on the DIMEAN model of discourse analysis. The analysis of the graphical features contained in the novella reveals dialectical interdependencies between the level of typography in its broad version and other discursive levels. Consequently, the author posits that the broadly defined notion of typography is of importance and therefore this textual level should be included in linguistic text/discourse analysis as contributing to text semantics.
