Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of mechanisms provided for in the Polish Law on Road Traffic which aim to equalize the chances of people with disabilities, in particular people with reduced mobility. They result from the implementation of the constitutional principle of equality and the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities which are binding on Poland. On the example of a specific case, the Author draws attention to practical problems encountered by people with disabilities. She also notices the importance of the Ombudsman’s activities for the transformation of attitudes and social awareness, which seems essential to the realization of the rights of people with disabilities, including the proper functioning of public bodies and institutions.
