Coastal State enforcement of marine environmental protection and resource management standards is essential for the implementation of economic ventures in the maritime areas under its jurisdiction. Offshore wind farms are one of the large-scale economic undertakings planned and prepared for implementation in the Polish exclusive economic zone in the next dozen or so years. The aim of the article is to present a few selected aspects related to the safety of offshore wind farms at the stage of their construction and operation in the context of the fulfillment by Poland as a Coastal State of the obligation to protect the marine environment well-established in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and reflected in Polish legislation.
