Zamierzeniem niniejszego opracowania jest omówienie specyfiki procesu diagnostycznego mającego na celu rozwój emocjonalno – społeczny dzieci z mutyzmem wybiórczym -zaburzeniem lękowym rozpoczynającym się w okresie dzieciństwa. Na podstawie gruntownego przeglądu literatury Autorka omawia także różne typy mutyzmu wybiórczego oraz zaburzenia mu towarzyszące, które utrudniają diagnostykę różnicową. Wskazuje także na rolę nauczycieli w toku procesu diagnozy mutyzmu wybiórczego.
