Abstract

The article presents the results of a survey of speech therapy students' views on preparation for interprofessional collaboration. The ability to collaborate has been recognized by American organizations, the Partnership for 21st Century Skills and the National Council for the Social Sciences, as one of the key competencies.

The study was carried out by a diagnostic survey method, using a questionnaire technique. The study group consisted of final-year students studying speech therapy or speech therapy specialization at universities in Poland. Using a survey questionnaire, prospective speech therapists were asked for their opinion on how prepared they were to work with other professionals.

The results obtained in the survey present the perspectives of speech therapy students on their readiness for a career that involves working together as part of an interprofessional team, during the diagnosis and therapy of children with disorders in language and speech development. The results of the study can be used to improve educational programs according to real professional needs and challenges, as well as adaptation in the context of increasing interdisciplinary cooperation skills.
