Abstrakt

The article is a description of the events and the timeline of Bruno Schulz’s visit to Warsaw in May 1921. Supported by Ostap Ortwin, a literary critic and a prominent figure in Lviv’s cultural life, Schulz came to the capital to establish new connections that could help him pursue his artistic goals and aspirations. During his visit, he met Wilam Horzyca and Władysław Skoczylas. Probably influenced by the latter, he enrolled in the Municipal School of Decorative Arts and Painting in Warsaw. Meanwhile, a group exhibition began at the Jagiello Gymnasium in Drohobych, where the works by Schulz as well as by Adolf and Ernestyna Bienenstock were also on display. The article includes a scan of the MSSZiM student register from 1921, which is held in the Archives of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
