Their families and the Free City of Gdańsk are defined as borderlands space/cultural dimension between Jews in Western and Eastern Europe with their different cultural models. The main point of the essay is the question, how the authors reflect the cultural hierarchisation in their own families and in the community of the Free City Gdańsk and intergenerational transmission of Eastern European languages in process of socialisation of Jewish children.
