Abstract

The paper contains detailed analyses of syntactic and semantic relations between adverbial clauses of purpose in the German and in the Polish language on the basis of examples from standard German and Polish journalistic texts. The study accounts for a variety of linguistic devices used in the texts. The devices which constitute the structure of the subordinate conditional and effect clause exhibit the presence and interdependence of numerous and varied morphological, syntactic, lexical-semantic and communicative-pragmatic units.
