Abstract

Günter Grass’s visits in Poland and in Gdańsk after the war inspired his work a lot. Grass also got in touch with Polish writers. His first trip in 1958 was particularly significant as well as his work on the film talking about the reconstruction of Gdańsk in 1975. In the article the author writes about Grass’s friendships with Andrzej Wirth and Bolesław Fac as well as about the early reception of Grass in Poland.
