Making a submission to “Studia Scandinavica” is tantamount to granting consent to have it published on the journal’s website or in the databases in which the journal is or will be indexed.
All texts can be sent to: marta.hajdyla@ug.edu.pl.
Authors can also send their articels using ojs system. They need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the five-step process.
We will be happy to receive articles in English and Polish as well as in Scandinavian languages (Danish, Swedish and Norwegian). If the Author writes in a language that is not his or her mother tongue, he or she is kindly asked to have the article proofread by a native speaker before submitting it to us.
We only accept submissions in text format. Charts, tables, photos, and drawings should be included in the text and sent as separate attachements. The maximum text length is 40,000 characters (one publishing sheet).
All submissions made must meet the general criteria of:
If your submission is deemed suitable, it will be sent to two reviewers for an independent expert assessment of the scientific quality in accordance with the Review process.
Editorial guidelines
In the upper left-hand corner of the first page, list your first and last name, your ORCID number, and affiliation.
Length of the texts: Between 20,000 and 40,000 characters with spaces, footnotes and bibliography. Review articles should be between 9,000 and 10,800 characters. Please do not number the pages.
Font: Times New Roman, size 12 pt.; line spacing: 1.5; margins: 2.5 cm; the text should be justified on the page.
Author and title: The Authors first name and surname, ORCID number and his or hers affiliation should stand in the upper left hand corner, above the title. The titles of the articles should we written in bold font, size 14 pt. Headings within the article should be numbered with Arabic numerals and written in bold font, size 12 pt.
Summary and key words: an English summary (approx. 500–800 characters with spaces, font size 10 pt., line spacing 1.0) should be placed below the title of the article. Please write up to five keywords underneath, in English (font size: 10 pt.), and below that, keywords in the language of the article (font size: 10 pt.)
Titles and names in the main text and in the footnotes: Titles of books, magazines, works of art etc. should be written in italics (with the Polish translation given in parentheses if necessary).
The full name of a person should be given the first time this person is mentioned in the text. Then that last name can be given without the first name or with an initial only.
Quotations: Quotations up to three lines should be marked with inverted commas, without italics, all changes within the quotations should be marked with square brackets, for example fragments that have been left out […] or the Authorʼs comments. We do not place an ellipsis before or after the quoted fragments. All quotations longer than three lines should begin from a new line, without inverted commas. They should not be indented, but instead have larger spacing between the characters and the font size should be 11 pt.
line spacing: 1.0. A quotation within a quotation: use single quotation marks: Bobbi told me, “Delia said, ‘This will never work.’ ” If the quotation is translated by the Author of the article, please state this in a parenthesis placed after the quotation by giving the Authors initials (transl. M.S.), (transl. K. M-V.).
Footnotes: Font size 10 pt., line spacing 1,0; place them automatically, with continuous numbering within the entire article. The number of the footnote should always be placed after the parenthesis before the full stop or other punctuation marks, for example: … as written in Codex Regius1; … since he “understood the language of the birds”2.
Illustrations: It is up to the Author to obtain permission to use a certain image in the publication. The files should be saved as .tiff or .jpg files. All images should be listed and attached in a separate folder. The resolution of the images should be at least 300 dpi. Our publication is going to be printed in black and white (1+1).

In the years 2022-2024, the publication of Studia Scandinavica was co-financed from the state budget under a program of the Ministry of Education and Science entitled "Development of Scientific Journals". Contract no. RCN/SP/0215/2021/1 was concluded on 19 December 2022. The financial resources allocated for the implementation of the project amounted to PLN 24,758.30. The objective of the program was to support Polish academic journals in implementing their development strategies, including activities aimed at improving publishing and editorial practices, increasing the journals' impact on the development of science, and maintaining their presence in the international scholarly circulation.
