Keywords:
siblings, family situation, hearing impairmentAbstract
The article is empirical. The aim of the research was to diagnose the family situation of hearing siblings with the deaf brother or sister. 73 people who are sisters (39 people) and brothers (34 people) participated in the study. The research was exploratory. The results of this study show that the sex of siblings was not a differentiating factor in their social roles in the family system. Brothers and sisters consciously perceive assigned social roles. The analysis of empirical material allowed to diagnose the knowledge and opinions of the respondents on the functioning of the subsystem: hearing siblings - deaf brother or deaf sister. Moreover, the siblings emphasized the need for multi-dimensional social support tailored to their needs.
