Abstract

Reconstruction of the genesis of Portrait einer polnischen Greisin based on manuscripts in Helga M. Novak’s heritage gives an insight into the production process of this author and makes it possible to formulate new interpretation theses for this text. They consider not only the picture of Poles, but also the characteristics of the protagonist and point out significance of the Old Testament Joseph figure in Novak’s work.
