This paper presents the results of research conducted as part of two studies carried out under the Erasmus+ programme in a large urban area. The focus is on analysing the motivating and demotivating factors affecting teachers with up to five years of professional experience. The study also identifies five main categories of occupational burdens: work organization and conditions, classroom management, relationships with parents, relationships with school principals and colleagues, and the impact of educational policy. An important complement to the analysis was an assessment of teachers’ burnout levels, which revealed that feelings of exhaustion prevailed over disengagement among the respondents.
