Keywords:
Gangsta-rapper, ghetto norms, street jargon, integration barrier, impoverishment of language and mannersAbstract
The article delineates the profile of a former resident of the Berlin ghetto and one of the leading German rappers, Bushido. His language and behaviour − observed in the film production entitled Zeiten ändern dich/Times a’changing (2010) − are subjected to assessment among students of German studies in Gdańsk, with their reception constituting the key component of the conducted research. Its analysis is complemented with a discussion of unsuccessful integration of immigrants in the native German society, with a particular focus on the migrants’ potential not being supported or appreciated and their being rejected and alienated, which finds its expression in the gangsta-ghetto rap.
