About ”sacred words” ingrained in the names of Polish cities and towns. The continuation of comments on the religious motives in the folk etymologies
Abstract
The article presents the folk etymologies of names of cities and towns, which are founded on statements connected with religious problems. In article are discussed the following names: Puck, Siewierz, Wizna, Warszawa, Grajewo, Białaszewo, Komosewo, Sulewo, Łosewo, Bożejewo, Niepruszewo, Dopijewo, Konaszewo, Karasiewo, Radziejów, Kroczewo, Złotopolce, Niepiekła, Domaniewice, Świniogóra, Dobranowice and Staniątki. The author juxtaposes all the folk etymologies of these names and compares them structurally and semantically with their scientific etymologies.
