Abstract

The article discusses vectors of the implementation of the kenotic principles of selfabasement in the life of a Russian writer and theologian living abroad Nadezhda Danilovna Gorodetskaya. The key events in her biography with elements of her creative path are presented. The study of kenosis in the literary-theological works of Gorodetskaya involve the image of the humiliated Christ in an artistic context as well as religious and philosophical interpretation; kenosis as a stage of spiritual achievement or as a trait of the Russian character (based on the example of personalities and works of Russian literature and philosophy, religion and socio-political life of Russia). The author believes that kenotic principles served as the foundation of Nadezhda Danilovna Gorodetskaya’s way of life and spiritual formation. She was a missionary and an educator in Western Europe, who devoted her whole life to sacrificial service to God and others.
